Recent news has landed Dr. Geeta Shroff and patient, Perry Cross, on U.S. and Australian TV channels and all over the Internet.
Perry, a C-2 quadriplegic is breathing on his own for the first time in 14 years. Although many of Dr. Shroff's patients have gotten publicity in their hometowns, this one is receiving the nationwide (and beyond) attention it deserves.

In "Amy news," I feel myself starting to emerge from the I-feel-a-little-like-crap fog that was looming over me. My joints are moving more freely, I'm less tired and as a result am definitely more calm than I was only a few days ago. I go back to see my Lyme doctor in a couple of weeks which will be my last visit before I return to India in July. Recent tests have proven that I did the right thing by discontinuing my antibiotic shots a bit early, as my kidneys are clearly not happy (they told me in lab test language).
Last week, a family member was diagnosed with late stage Lyme Disease and every co-infection possible. I have never seen lab results so positive for this complex of diseases than I have in his (adequate testing can be a huge challenge especially the longer someone has the disease). I suspected it but the results were jarring all the same. It's unreal to even anticipate someone you love so much going through the horror of something like this. But you can only hope it will be different for them, as each patient's symptoms and treatment are so varied.
As hard at it's been, I'm glad it happened in this order (me first). The Universe is constantly showing me that when I followed my heart to India for Dr. Geeta Shroff's embryonic stem cell treatment almost six months ago, I did the right thing. Every day, I learn of new hope that my journey has inspired in strangers from all over the world. But, I never in a million years could have imagined that I might some day inadvertently, save someone in my very own family.
Life never ceases to surprise me, and almost always, gratefully so.
